This policy explains what spin-line-australia.com collects about you, why, how long it is kept and what you can do about it. We are an editorial site rather than a gambling operator: no accounts, no deposits, no balances, no identity documents. Most of what follows is therefore the ordinary technical exhaust of a website rather than anything personal you handed over.
Who is responsible for your data
The Spin-line Australia site is published by an independent editorial team based in Melbourne. We are the entity that decides what is collected here and why. For any privacy matter, write to [email protected].
We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the thirteen Australian Privacy Principles made under it. Where a reader is covered by another regime — the European GDPR, for instance — we apply whichever standard gives that reader more control.
What we collect
Information you choose to give us
The only way to hand us personal information directly is to send an email. If you do, we hold your address and whatever you wrote, for as long as it takes to deal with the matter and a reasonable period afterwards in case you follow up. We do not add correspondents to a mailing list and we do not sell contact details. There is no newsletter signup, comment section or registration form anywhere on this site.
Information collected automatically
Like any website, we and our analytics provider record technical data when a page loads:
- your IP address, which our analytics tool truncates before storage so that it identifies a region rather than a household;
- device and browser details — screen size, operating system, browser version, language;
- which pages you opened, in what order, how long you stayed and which site or search you arrived from;
- a cookie identifier that lets the analytics tool distinguish a returning visit from a new one.
We make no attempt to work out who you are from it. This is aggregate reading behaviour: which guides get read to the end, which pages nobody finds. Worth stating plainly as well — we never receive anything an operator collects from you. The passport scans and bank statements described on our identity checks page go to the casino, never to us.
Why we are allowed to hold it
The Australian Privacy Principles allow collection of what is reasonably necessary for our function, which is publishing an editorial site. In practice our basis is legitimate interest: we cannot maintain the site without knowing whether anyone reads a page or whether it breaks on a particular browser. Where consent is the appropriate basis — non-essential cookies — we ask for it, and you can withdraw it at any point.
We do not collect sensitive information as the Privacy Act defines it: no health data, no biometrics, no racial, political or religious information, and no financial account details.
Cookies we use
A cookie is a small file a site stores in your browser. Ours fall into three groups, and only the first is unavoidable.

We run no advertising cookies and no cross-site tracking pixels for ad networks. If that ever changes, this table changes with it and the date at the top of the page moves.
Controlling cookies yourself
Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies, and most offer a private mode that discards them when the window closes. Blocking everything breaks parts of many sites, but little here. The visible effect on our pages is that the cookie notice may reappear on each visit, because the record of your answer is itself a cookie.
How long we keep things
Analytics records are retained for up to 26 months and then deleted or aggregated beyond recovery — long enough to compare one year against the next, and no longer. Server logs, which contain full IP addresses, are kept for up to 90 days. Email correspondence is kept for up to 24 months from the last message in the thread.
Who else sees it
Three categories, and no others. Our hosting provider, which necessarily processes requests in order to serve pages. Our analytics provider, which processes the data described above under contract and may not use it for its own purposes. And anyone we are legally compelled to disclose to, such as a court or a regulator acting within its powers. We do not sell personal information, and we disclose nothing to advertisers or to any gambling operator.
Some providers store data outside Australia. Where that happens, Australian Privacy Principle 8 requires us to take reasonable steps to ensure the recipient handles your information to an equivalent standard, and we choose providers on that basis.
Your rights
You can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it if it is wrong, and ask us to delete it. Write to [email protected] and we will answer within 30 days, at no charge. Because we hold so little that is linked to a named person, the honest answer to most access requests is that we hold an email thread and nothing else.
If you are unhappy with how we handled a privacy matter, tell us first — most problems are a misunderstanding that one reply resolves. If that fails, you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, which oversees the Privacy Act and has power to investigate.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS, access to the publishing system is restricted to the editorial team and protected by two-factor authentication, and we keep the platform patched. No system is immune, and we will not pretend otherwise. If a breach occurred that was likely to cause serious harm, the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme would oblige us to notify the affected people and the Commissioner.
Children
This site is for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone younger. If you believe a minor has sent us personal information, email us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
When our practices change, this page changes, and the date at the top moves with it. Material changes are worth a second read; a corrected typo is not. This policy sits alongside our site terms, which cover use of the content itself.
